Is it time to start thinking about your wedding entertainment?

DJ vs iPod

It is very tough to cater to all your guests in regards to music, you will have the grandparents who like Elvis, some parents who like the Bee Gees and some young adults who like Drake.

You can create your playlist and play from an iPod or you can hire a DJ.

There are pros and cons to both.

DJ

Pros

  • No need to set up yourself

  • Less prep work compared to iPod

  • Crowd engagement

  • A broad range of music to please your guests

  • Better transitions between songs

  • Can take song requests from guests

Cons

  • Costs more than iPod

iPod

Pros

  • Cheap

  • Play your favourite songs

Cons

  • No crowd engagement

  • Takes time to prepare

  • Must hire or borrow a sound system

  • Find someone to it set up

  • Bad transitions between songs

  • Another thing to worry about on the night

We understand that some couples may not envision a big dance party for their wedding, they just want a nice relaxing evening with their friends and family. This is where an iPod playlist would be amazing. You can pick some of your favourite tracks and let that run as background music. But if you are looking for a night of dancing then a DJ is your answer, hiring the correct DJ for your wedding can fill your dance floor and entertain all your guests and even get grandma and grandpa on the dance floor.

You generally get what you pay for when it comes to DJs so we recommend that you don’t skimp when it comes to booking your DJ. Professional wedding DJs can charge more with their experience, quality equipment and their willingness to work with you and your song choices. We know that budget is a factor when it comes to booking entertainment so if you are a bit low on budget and would prefer the iPod route, we advise that you spend a good amount of time to prepare this playlist and ask some of your guests to send you some of their favourite tracks so that you may add them to your playlist as well.

I’m a wedding DJ so my opinion may be biased :). Let me know in the comments below if you had a DJ or an iPod at your wedding
