Booking the right team/vendors is crucial to having a successful wedding and it will help reduce stress for you and your fiancé.

Great wedding vendors can be booked well over a year in advance. On average couples tend to start looking for vendors 12-18months before their wedding day.

Reception Venue

Once you are ready to start planning your wedding the first thing you should look at booking is the reception venue. You will need time to make a shortlist of potential reception venues you would like to book and then arrange a tour with the venue. Venues get booked out 12-18 months in advance, this should be at the top of your to-do list.

Photographer/Videographer

Once you have a Reception venue and a date locked in, it is time to book a photographer/videographer. They are booked quite far in advance, make sure you have enough time to go through a few sample albums and quotes. Photographers/videographers are generally booked 6-12months before the wedding.

MC

Booking an MC early is a good idea because an mc will be in charge of running your wedding schedule. Having the right MC that you and your fiancé get along with is very important. Look for a charismatic, confident and organised MC. MCs generally get booked 6 - 12months in advance.

DJ/Band

Now that you have an mc it is time to think about entertainment. DJs/bands get booked out roughly 6-12 months in advance. Finding the right entertainment can take some time but well worth it.

Extra Entertainment

Once you have booked all your main suppliers you can start thinking about any extra entertainment you would like to have. Candy buffets, photo booths and magicians are very popular at weddings. Booking 3-6 months is advised for these vendors.

If you plan to have your wedding during September - November (wedding season in Australia) add 6 months to your booking time to avoid disappointment.
