Are you feeling a little anxious and stressed during your wedding planning?
Try meditating.
There are many forms of meditation, each serving a different purpose. For stress and anxiety relief, I suggest Zen meditation. Zen meditation can be like a reset button for your brain, it involves sitting upright, breathing and clearing your mind.
Meditation can be taken for granted because it’s free and simple to do. Could it be as effective as taking stress/anxiety medication? In my opinion, it is more effective because there are no requirements to get started and you can meditate when needed and for any duration.
Here is what I do when I meditate.
Step 1. Find a comfortable place to sit
Step 2. Sit upright with your head, neck, shoulder and core aligned
Step 3. Place your hands palms up in your lap and close your eyes
Step 4. Take a slow deep breath in through your nose and expand your stomach not your chest
Step 5. Relax your stomach and slowly breath out through your nose
Step 6. While breathing in and out clear your thoughts about what has to be done, be present and concentrate on your breathing.
Step 7. You may find yourself thinking about what needs to be done and that is perfectly fine just try and clear your thoughts by concentrating on your breathing. The more you practise this the easier and quicker it will be to clear your mind.
Step 8. When you are ready, open your eyes.
I like to meditate in the morning and i meditate for about 10minutes, i don’t like to set an alarm because i find myself thinking about the alarm during my meditation. It is much better to open your eyes calmly than to a loud buzz from your alarm.
Give meditation a couple of tries, it may not work for everyone the first time but the more you practise the closer you will get to reap its full potential.
Guided meditation is also helpful for beginners who find it difficult to meditate in silence.
